Emerald Coast Chapter Goals For 2009
Our Executive Committee has reflected on the progress during 2008 and determined that several of the
chapter goals should be retained for 2009 with minor adjustments. These goals are right on target
to keep us focused on accomplishing the important objectives that represent AFCEA International's
direction and high standards, as well as posture the chapter for continued future growth.
A. Leadership:
- Goal: Support Chapter Leadership. Our Executive Committee believes the steering group can
provide program feedback and mentoring to keep us moving ahead. We will continue inviting a
senior educator to meetings, along with active duty, retired military, and industry professionals.
B. Membership:
- Goal: Retain 80% of our members
- Goal: Increase overall membership by 5%
- Goal: Increase enlisted membership by 10%
- Goal: Have three activities focused on Young AFCEANS
- Goal: Implement an Emerald Coast AFCEAN of the Quarter program to recognize deserving members for their contributions to the chapter.
C. Corporate Membership:
- Goal: Increase Corporate sponsorship by 10%
D. Scholarship and Education:
- Goal: Raise at least $2,000 and award at least $1,000 in 2009 to local scholarships
- Goal: Award an educational grant to a high school in Okaloosa County devoted to improving science instruction capabilities
- Goal: Donate $500 to AFCEA educational foundation
- Goal: Participate in at least one outreach program (science fair judges, career day booth, etc)
- Goal: Develop an outreach program toward enlisting membership and interest from our local colleges and universities
E. Chapter Communications
- Goal: Leverage our Chapter web site and communications program to ensure our members and sponsors are aware of upcoming events
- Goal: Provide each of our corporate sponsors the opportunity to briefly highlight their organization during membership luncheons.
Intent is to educate chapter members on those capabilities each sponsor possesses.
Point of contact regarding these goals is our Chapter President, Col Stephen O'Rear, 850-882-4468.
